Baby Gideon

Baby Gideon is such a blessing to us. He came while malnourished and weighing 1.96 kilogram, which is very unhealthy for a 4 months old baby but God has been faithful. He put a burden in some of our staff and volunteers to just love him and nurture him so that he could flourish. And now he has become such a handsome boy with a beautiful smile. He is feeding well and generally growing wonderfully. At 5 months, though he is not up to par with the other babies, he is fast catching up. He likes to talk in his own way (baby talk) and you can tell that he will be a storyteller. And he has such intelligent eyes that make you wonder what he must be thinking as he stares at you. I can't wait to see who he will become one day.

Our Handsome Twin Boys

The twins, Mark and Max, are growing wonderfully. They are healthy and feeding well. They love getting attention and being held which they receive from the mothers and volunteers. Once in a while they smile randomly, which is so beautiful and cute. I am so glad at how God has watched over these kids and blessed them. It is seeing such small, helpless babies grow and flourish under our care that motivates us to keep on doing what we do. I thank God for the opportunity He has given us to serve this little ones.

Demand for Happy Life School Growing

The Happy Life Christian School continues to grow as demand for learning opportunities grows.  Recently we admitted 21 needy children from the community.  These are children ranging from 4-14 years, who are orphaned or vulnerable.  Even though they are in school-going age they were not in school because the families could not afford the tuition, uniforms and other necessities.  The children eat most of their meals at the center before going home because they may not get anything at home. This means more expenses for the Juja center but we are happy that God took us to Juja to give hope through education.

Farewell Rosemary

February 27th was both a sad day and a joyous one as the HL family bid farewell to our long serving and very able Administrator, Rosemary Kamau.  Rosemary has left a big gap at Happy Life - among the children, staff and partners, having left on December 31st.  But I guess time comes for one to say the byes... It was quite an emotional time for all but all had such praises for Rosemary's work at HL.  We are happy that she remains part of this great family but she is truly being missed.  Thank you Rosemary on behalf of the dear children whose lives you have touched in a very special way over the years...

"We love you Rosemary" say the children.

Nickson Joins Forever Family

The smile on his face told it all:  "I finally have a family."  Nickson, one of our boys in Juja Center was so excited to get a mother and a forever family on 27 February.  Nickson will definitely be missed by his Mum Wanja, his siblings and the whole of Happy Life community.  But our joy was so complete to see him leave with a smile on his face and hope in his eyes.
