'Outing'

Today was the children vaccination day against measles for the children below five years. We decided to first take those who are between 2 -5 years old in a nearby clinic but they all thought they were going out for a walk. They all got new saddles which were quite annoying with this funny noise but this made them very excited for the outing. They could not even pause for a picture but little did they know that their outing was to go and get the measles shots in a nearby clinic. Their faces when going out and when they came in communicated it all. After the shots, they would pause for a picture but with these dull faces. Pole sana.

It's a big family

Children between 3-7 years.

Many of the children are adopted when they are 3 years and below. However, some are adopted when they are older than that but just a few. We hope that these children will get adopted into families. However, our vision is to have family units’ set-up where these children can be divided and be brought together in different families as they await adoption and if they will not be adopted, Happy Life is already their home. We need a lot of support to make this dream come true. Thanks for every partener’s support. Together we can make a difference

One new baby boy 'Alvin'

Today, Baby Alvin got a home after having been abandoned on 13th April 2011. Alvin had been left by his mother to a very young school girl. The alleged mother lied to the girl that she was rushing to get something nearby and asked her to stay with the baby for a few minutes. Since then, the mother has never been traced. Alvin is about 6 months old and is healthy.

Mayana and Tando. - 2 more Babies

Mayana was born in July 2010. She was abandoned at Kenyatta national hospital on 1^st January 2011. The baby had been admitted at the hospital suffering from pneumonia and malnutrition. According to the admission records, the mother is a window, 25years old and has two other children.

Tando was born as a twin (2 boys) on 21^st June 2010 at Kenyatta Hospital. The mother left with the first twin living him behind. He had a low birth weight of 1700 grams. Tando is now in good health and weighs 6.7 kgs. One would wonder how a mother would abandon one child who is a twin and leave the other.
