Say a prayer....

Please help us to say a prayer for Baby Leroy and Enoch who are admitted at Kiambu district hospital.  Pray also for the HL members of staff and especially the caregivers (mothers) t who have to stay at the hospital with them. Our prayers also goes out to our (cucu) Hannah, who has been unwell for the the second week now.  May the Lord heal her and give her the strength to come back to work and serve the children.   I am grateful to God who  has given us these passionate and committed caregivers, who go out of their way to love and care for these children. I was so encouraged this afternoon when I held a meeting with some of them as we tried to figure out how we are going to work with some of them at the hospital and at the same time take care of the rest. May the almighty God bless them and meet with their various needs.

 The five boys were admitted from Nairobi Children's Home.  They will soon be going to Juja after we complete the other house unit  so that they can start school.

Triza and Lynn though not siblings were admitted  from the same police station at Thika where they had been rescued after being abandoned.

Hope for Abandoned babies - and the Vision continues.................................................

 Renewing our License is always a tedious exercise that we have to undergo after every three years.  Its that time again!!!! but not the way we were eight years ago, when the new registration practice was introduced..... much better.  Sometimes I wonder, why cant they make it five!!!!  However, over the years, I can testify that God has been faithful; He is the father to these fatherless children.   I still remember when they introduced the new registration requirements and I had to prepare the first document.... from a vacuum; it gave me sleepless nights, not any more.  Last week when I went to the children's department to apply for the renewal, it took me less than 5 minutes, I was so encouraged.  I am almost finishing preparing the document, the public health inspection was to be carried out this week but they postponed it to next week, and one more inspection from the CCI's committee.  It would take us weeks or months to get the public health people to inspect the home then, but I thank God who has connected us; thus making this easy for us.  And our mission continues, "we got to bring hope to more abandoned babies in Kenya."  Thanks a lot to all our partners and friends who continually pray and give towards this noble course. "Together we are making a difference"

shemiah and Leroy are our March 2014 babies who we admitted this week!  Leroy was given up for adoption by his Mum; he is only one week old.  Shemaiah, who is about one month old was found abandoned in a bush in a certain village in Thika.  God has a better plan for these two boys!! They have joined our big HL family!!!

Gabby re-united with the mother

Baby Gabby Uri was born on 26^th November 2013.  Now three months old, he has been re-united with his biological mother. 

 We pray and hope that he will be well taken care of.  God bless you our little champ!!

Faith, Mitchelle and Angela - There is Hope!!

They came to Happy Life at different times and each of them had a story.  A sad story of being abandoned by the people they called family; a mother? a dad?  we cant tell.  One thing is sure, they are happy to belong to a big family, the HL family and to the Shalom family, and Salome as their Mummy. They love it to be sisters; not now in despair but full of hope.  They just got to their house after school and they are happy.  Their destiny is big, yes!! its big with a big God.  Hope is written all over their innocent faces!! We thank God for Happy Life.

Enoch's Story

Enoch was  admitted at HLCH on 22^nd August 2012 when he was about 3 - 4 months old.  He seemed to be in good health although his chest was a bit congested; he was a jovial baby.

 He was put on some antibiotics but after two weeks, the congestion worsened.  We were referred to another hospital and to another and finally he was admitted at the Gertrude hospital where he was in ICU(intensive care ward) for 10 days and in the recovery ward for another 3 weeks.  It so happened that when he got serious, the doctors in the governments hospitals were on leave and since it was an emergency, we took him to Gertrude children's hospital.  He accumulated a very large bill of more than a million Kenya shillings which we have not yet settled the whole of it until now.  When he was released from Gertrude, Enoch was never the same, he was discharged paralyzed, some doctors says its cerebral palsy; of which we cant figure out whether it was a result of the sickness or the effects of the drugs he was taking.... very unfortunate!! However, we thank God who has a good plan for his life.

The first week of this year, he got sick again and admitted at Kiambu district hospital with bronchial pneumonia.  He was discharged on Friday 17th and has fully recovered.  However, the doctors have advised that he needs frequent therapy although we used to take him for a therapy once a week.  God got him out of the comma when he was at the ICU for 10 days!! He has healed him again, He has a good plan for his Life!!! Our prayers goes to Enoch.
